Here is to the best thing that ever came out of New Jersey: Alfred Stieglitz. Just kidding. Needless to say the man was a master. He did a whole bunch of things I could praise; for example, he was one of the first to promote photography as an art form. He took a broader view on the medium and inspired many with his dedication to technique. Among other eye-openers, he skillfully pointed out the beauty of isolated body parts (my favorite: Hands). You can admire his fruits at the Met now. Oh yeah, Steichen and Strand are also part of the exhibition. Heck yes.
