Der erste Pop-Up Store TOYKIO x NRW Forum wird am 27. Januar 2012 in Düsseldorf eröffnet und für 4 Wochen Designer Vinyltoys und Kunst mit dem Schwerpunkt Streetart und Fotografie im NRW Forum präsentieren.

Der Concept Store TOYKIO, welche sich einen Namen durch seine speziellen Kombination von Galerie, Café und Shop gemacht hat, bietet das erste Mal außerhalb seines Concept-Store den Kunden ein exklusives Shopping- und Kunsterlebniss. Ein Abenteuer sowohl für TOYKIO sowie auch für das NRW Forum in Düsseldorf.

Der Fokus des Pop-Up Stores liegt auf den verschiedenen Serien der Do-it-yourself Vinylfiguren von Munnyworld. Die bestehenden Charakteren Munny, Bub, Trikky, Raffy und Rooz werden ausgestellt und können nach belieben angemalt, besprüht, angezogen, oder einfach im Originalstand gelassen werden.

Ganz nach dem Munnyworld Motto „You can do anything you want“ wird bei der Eröffnung des Pop-Up Store am 27.1.12 in Zusammenarbeit mit 20 ausgewählten nationalen Künstlern ein Life-Customizing der Vinyltoys statt finden. Mit dabei sind unter anderem Max Fiedler und die Majo Bros.

Musikalisch unterstützt werden die Künstler vom mehrfachem DJ-Weltmeister DJ Rafik, welcher bei der Eröffnung ebenfalls sein Können unter Beweis stellen wird.

Maaaaaan, time flies. This is ridiculous. My boys from Dreamteam Clothing are already celebrating their 5th years anniversary ! Of course the party boys  gonna do that with a big ass event  in their hometown Düsseldorf next Saturday, so they reanimated Miki and the ‘12inch Orchestra’, a project that we wanted to do for quite some time now.  Imagine hearing aaaaall of your favorite tracks from back in the days live… (and we know that Miki is killing this live shit)…..today is the second day of rehearsal and I am loving it . Working with Miki and performing tracks that I’ve been rapping and singing along for years now is really something else. That experience combined with performing for a crowd that holds my closest friends makes all of this so special for me.

There are so many different ways to be connected to people. There are the people you feel this unspoken connection to even though theres not even a word for it and then there are the people who you’ve known for a long time. Those who just know you in this way that other people can’t because they’ve seen u change. They’ve let u change.
For me, there are gonna be a lot of those people on saturday, on and off stage……I will try not to cry, ’so I gotta make the song cry’.

After serving as the latest pop-up-place for the last three months, Düsseldorf’s Toykio, will now stay for good in the city’s Japanese quarter, opening the doors of its new location, this Friday, May 6th, 2011.

Blending art with coffee culture, the gallery, shop & cafe will serve as a melting pot of creativity. Selim Varol will host the events, whilst his partners Reuven Schockner and Georg Labude will take care of all culinary delights!

On their re-opening on May 6th, they will open the exhibition of Stefan Strumbel and a live performance by The Achtung Achtung.

Hi there my LOOOOVELY People,

I’ve been slacking on bloggin REALLY REALLY BAD and I am REALLY REALLY SORRY but now I am totally back and want to tell you all things I did in the past few months.

For today, I want to share two things with you guys… These things will show you pretty much of Amsterdams young creatives I  work and laugh with. I’ve got a lot of admiration for the way they’ve achieved their goals.

“Give me a head with hair… show it, flow it, long as God can grow it”… These text lines from Broadway Musical ‘Hair’ definitely explain the conceptual background of the exhibition ‘Zeitgeist & Glamour’ at NRW Forum Düsseldorf, which is taking place from now until May 15th.

Photographs of the glamourous and jetsetty lifestyle from celebrities of the 60s and 70s, are exhibited to show how the change in society, values and other areas have been shown right on the heads of their protagonists.

As announced late last week, our DLZ crew Toykio opened the doors to their newest project: a pop-up coffee & gallery space in the Japanese district of Düsseldorf.

We were very eager to see the first pics popping up, and honestly: big up to all of you down there collaborating on this one- it looks amazing!

Filled up with the creme of street art, the location features works by some of the greatest such as Banksy, JR, Sherpard Fairey, Swoon, KAWS and Ricky Powell among others.

We’re sure that’s just the start and wish Selim Varol & his crew more than success with this one. Open from today- we’ll pass by soon!
