Production Company: Canada

We are big fans of the works of the Barcelona based production company CANADA, which was founded in 2008.

The director trio of Luis Cerveró, Nicolás Méndez and Lope Serrano have created excellent music, advertising, art, fashion and television video’s, with a special and distinct style, among which we could find The Battle’s latest clip “Ice Cream” or The White Lies “Holy Ghost”.

Check out a few works after the click and make sure to drop by their web for further inspirations!

Collection: Uniqlo for Jim Jarmush

Uniqlo Top came up with a great way to celebrate American director Jim Jarmush, best known for his slow-paced yet painfully truthful movies such as Down by Law (starring Tom Waits), Night on Earth (starring Winona Ryder) and Coffee and Cigarettes (starring Jack&Meg White, Iggy Pop and Bill Murray)… just to name a few!

This film maker is cult and these T-shirts will soon become cult, too.

Short-Films by Douglas Burgdorff

http://www.vimeo.com/15584143

Douglas Burgdorff is the embodiment of the word experimental. The LA based director uses unique tunes, unusual situations and dark emotions to create short films that cause viewers to delve into the unknown. His piece, “Red Rare Veins,” is a psychedelic vision, set in red light and featuring a series of random animals, while “Snort,” is a brief history of a skateboarder on a coke high. A true artist, Burgdorff’s haunting shorts are enthralling, hopefully a full-lenght film is somewhere in his future.

Hocus Pocus “Beautiful Losers” by Wu Yue Nyno

YouTube Preview Image

The french hip hop/soul/jazz band Hocus Pocus present their latest video for “Beautiful Losers” featuring Alice Russell, off their current album 16 Pieces. Directed by our Paris-based friend and mastermind Wu Yue Nyno, this is definitely our favorite music video of what we have seen to date in 2010. The über-creative-5-Moon-Man blows us away with his talent, vision and skills taking us onto a beautiful optical rollercoaster. We don’t understand a word of the lyrics, but somehow also dig the Frenchy tunes too! Biggest Big Up to Nyno- eVeLuV’s & “LMD”!

“Closeness” by Danilo Parra

Look out for the director, photographer and musician Danilo Parra. The 23 year old Brooklyn-based super-talent likes skating, Vietnamese food and walking on the beach bare-feeted. We actually just stumbled upon his latest pictures, that show the experiments he did using a flash light and a few flashes to capture some beautiful pictures of his friends. By having a closer look into his blog we found out that he is working on a promising short film named Closeness. The documentary is about a saxophone player named Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre and his stuggle on recording his final album, which is dedicated to his wife of 20 years. Parra’s raw and honest style is moving and powerful- we are surely keeping him on our radar!

Malia James

Let us present Malia James. We first stumbled over her phenomenal photography, from personal stories to indie rock tours, but then discovered a whole load more about her. She is host of the new indie music web series “Dirty Laundy“, where she interviews indie bands in a laundromat while they both do their laundry. She is also a passionate drawer, when featuring her work on “Pulling My Pigtails“. She plays bass for indie band Marnie Stern, and directed the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club “Beat The Devils Tattoo” video. Is there something you don’t do Miss James?! We love her- Its all about rock and she definitely rolls it! Loving her creativity, the amount of time she puts in her passions and the beautiful work that comes out of it.
