Starting on April 7th, BAMart will show the Skye Parrott curated exhibition “Younger Than I’ll Be“, not only presenting works of Skye herself but also of Nan Goldin among many others. The collection of photographs will show the New York of the 80’s and early 90’s- also if not all the works are dated in those years. It is a memorial to her childhood and the experiences she felt when thinking that you own the world, that she “owned” New York. Wanting to portray the unrestricted abandon of youth, the feeling of being recklessly in love and the haziness to catch a memory, Parrott has gathered some of the best in the craft to explain all that what is often hard to put in words. The show will run till May 23rd- check it out!

Valeska Soares is currently showing her latest large-scale exhibition “Vaga Lume” at Eleven Rivington Gallery in New York. The Brazilian but New York based artist has designed a ceiling of over 1000 warm yellow light bulbs which can all be switched on or off separately by a beaded chain. As you move through the room, you become performer by pulling on the chains and changing the pattern of lights, creating a changing composition of visual illumination. The interactive installation is going to be there to play till April 10th, 2010, so be sure to check it out!

Der in New York lebende Fotograf, Ryan McGinley, stellt zum 3.Mal solo aus, in der Team Gallery, NYC.Bis zum 17 April zeigt er Auszüge eine Bildreihe namens “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”, dafür hat der Künstler sein Studio in der Metropole genutzt und über 150 Menschen selbst ausgesucht, eingeladen und den speziellen Moment eines solchen Portraits abgewartet und festgehalten. Kein Abenteuer durch die Jugend von heute, sondern dieses Triebwerk, die Kraft aufgenommen und eine Art Katalog erstellt, welchen den emotionalen Optimismus unserer heutigen Jugend festhält.

Since March 7th, we can see Rosson Crows “Bowery Boys” at Deitch, New York. The artist gives us her personal view on the evolution of Manhattans streets, in the last 200 years, displaying her talent on nostalgic large-scale paintings. Her frank, punk, post-gender attack is more personal than political, and more imaginative than expository; or in simpler terms, more badass. The urban oil pieces show us the world of underground art and the culture clashes of the Big Apple. The show will be on till March 27th, definitely worth a visit! Amazing talent, amazing woman!

The Australian artist Anthony Lister, based in New York, is already well known within the streetart circles. Featured in exhibitions next to Banksy and Ron English, he now has his next solo display coming up! We love his work, and if we would be in NYC we would definitely pay this a visit!

First, let us make a general introduction, on who or what Nasty Mondays actually is.  Nasty Mondays was invented 5 years ago in Barcelona, by our friends Max & Sören- local celebrities, mad minds, blonde lovers and tattoo addicts! With their fable to indie & electro rock, they started with a party series that didn’t exist like that  in the catalonian city before. Mondays at Apollo was a MUST. Constantly reinventing themselves, with new themes, bands playing live, different locations and becoming crazier each time, they have managed to establish their base within Barcelona, and have toured in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Holland.
