Der Franzose Philippe Starck ist der Stardesigner der vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnte. Von einer Zahnbürste bis hin zu Zitronenpressen, Motorbooten oder riesigen Hotels – Philippe Starck designte schon die unterschiedlichsten Dinge und konnte sein Talent unter Beweis stellen. Bei der Erstellung seiner Produkte achtet der Designer vor allem auf die Verwendung umweltfreundlicher Materialien sowie den praktischen Nutzen des Produkts. Ausserdem sind seine Kreationen auch für die breite Masse erschwinglich und sollen den Alltag verschönern sowie vereinfachen.

Sein neustes Projekt enstand mit dem englischen Fotohersteller Photo-me, welcher den Designer für eine Zusammenarbeit angefragt hatte. Die Idee war, einen neuen, völlig modernisierten und doch klassischen Fotoautomaten zu erstellen. Gemäss des Designers machen Fotoautomaten Bilder von allen wichtigen Zeiten in unserem Leben: Die erste Bus-Karte, für den Schulausweis, für den Reisepass und und und. Damit das Fotoerlebniss jedoch neue Dimensionen erhält, liess sich Philippe Stark einiges einfallen.

Eine Aussenkamera soll Passanten in die Kabine locken, indem sie deren Bild direkt auf einen Bildschirm projiziert. Betritt man den Fotoautomaten, beginnt der Hocker in der Ecke farbig zu blinken. Die Botschaft: Setz dich hier hin! Natürlich kann man auch alles andere als normale Bilder im Automaten machen: Auf Wunsch ist eine Auswahl an verschiedenen 3D-Hintergründen verfügbar sowie einige Filter. So kann man sich zum Beispiel als Andy Warhol Bild oder inmitten von süssen japanischen Comicfiguren fotografieren lassen. Das per Knopfdruck geschossene Foto kann direkt aufs Facebook- oder Twitter-Konto geladen oder als E-Mail verschickt werden. Natürlich ist es auch möglich, dass Bild klassisch ausdrucken zu lassen. Ein Spass, welcher leider momentan nur in London möglich ist.

This is meant to bang. Far from being another small pop-up shop located in a side alley of a hyped street, this will probably burst limits. London’s upcoming pop-up MALL “Boxpark“, led by Boxfresh founder Roger Wade and real estate developers Hammerson and Ballymore.

The concept is far from being normal. Starting with their initial location in Shoredith in late October, they want to create low cost, low risk and unique so called “Boxshops” aka building blocks, which will be possible to be moved around the world. The retail revolution will host more than 50 international fashion, arts and lifestyle brands, as well as galleries and cafes to make this shopping experience spectacular.

packed with talent, innovation and attitude that puts creativity and fashion back where they belong: on the street. “

Paying much attention to the support of small, independent, even local brands and wanting to distance itself from high street retailers, Boxpark wants to create a community of creativity of its own. And although it is pop-up, the first location at the corner Shoreditch High Street + Bethnal Green Road, will be operational for five years.

Der britische Schuhdesigner Nicholas Kirkwood hat sich für seine neuste Kollektion etwas spezielles ausgedacht. Zusammen mit der Keith Haring Foundation präsentiert der Schuhdesigner eine neue Schuhkollektion mit den achtziger Pop-Art-Motiven von Keith Haring, als Hommage an den verstorbenen Künstler.

Dabei sind 12 einzigartige Modelle entstanden, die verschiedener nicht sein könnten. Ob mit Svarovski Steinen, Plexiglasfersen oder knalligen Farben – Nicholas Kirkwood hat es geschafft, sehr moderne Schuhe zu kreieren und dem 80er Flair von Keith Haring trotzdem treu zu bleiben.

Die Kollektion ist bereits seit Februar veröffentlicht, doch diesen Monat eröffnete der in Deutschland geborene Schuhdesigner seinen eignen Store in der Londoner Mount Street, und zeigte anlässlich der Eröffnung nochmals die komplete Haring-Kollektion. Natürlich stehen die Schuhe dort auch zum Verkauf zur Verfügung.

“Supporting your local heroes”- this is what Selfridges thought when planning their new in-store decorations. Featuring some of the biggest upcoming names in British fashion and art throughout January and February, Selfridges has selected 25 young designers and artists under the campaign “Bright Young Things” to create their own displays and portray their works and creativity to the masses.

The first 10 displays have gone up now, whilst the second round will be hitting stores on February 4th. Simultaneoously, Selfridges is opening 3 pop-up shops showcasing the best and some limited edition pieces of the designers, and making their work & creations available to be sold online. Emma Gibson, Alex Noble (Lady Gaga’s tour designer), Emily Pugh, Kristy Ward, art collective The John Hour and knitwear designer Craig Lawrence, are just few of the stellar names. We love the idea, and especially the result!

Wir sind ja immer offen für Neues und Schönes, daher haben wir uns die sehr interessanten Kreationen von Chau Har Lee (kurz: CHL) auch sehr genau angesehen. Das Besondere und bisher selten so gesehenene daran ist nicht das avantgardistische Design (obwohl das schon reichen würde), sondern unsere Aufmerksamkeit wie magisch angezogen, haben die metallenen Absätze! Die verleihen dem Schuh etwas unwiderstehlich futuristisches, welches uns sehr passend zur neuen, zweiten Dekade des Jahrtausends erscheint! Bisher sind sie leider nur in London zu kaufen.

Supermarket Sarah, der Onlineshop, bei dem alle Objekte in so liebevoll-detaillierter Weise in großformatige Kollagen einbezogen werden, wird nun für seine Kreativität gelobt! Seit gestern gibt es einen eigenen kleinen Supermarket Sarah bei Selfridges. Das heißt dann, dass es die niedlichen kleinen Nütz- und Unnützigkeiten demnächst wohl erstmal auf Platz 1 der Mitbringselliste für alle UK-Reisenden sein dürften!

The much anticipated pop up store is soon to be in London. A hub for design-led brands; there will be an abundance of all things nice from kooky homewares, books, fashion, jewellery and all the way to collectable knick knacks. The retail experience will overtake two-floors for a temporary period leading up to Christmas. Watch out for the patterned fake eyelashes designed by Paperself!

The London Store are taking the retail experience to an entire new level. Aiming to establish a new standard that will turn traditional retail into an experience rather than a consumer destination. With a focus on design and with seven different concept rooms they house international designers, a library and a club space. With online shopping taking over the shopping experience, its refreshing to see a concept store challenge our traditional perception and encourage us to bring out knowledge as we exit as opposed to just a new hand bag.

Sneaker Freakers the world over would be jealous that they’re not in London on November 7th. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised that some would pay the air fare just to get there. Sneakers and sneaker collectors take the trade quite seriously. Slap a “Limited Edition” collection to a sneaker range and fans will pay big bucks.  Courtesy of Crepe City, a gigantic sneaker swap meet is taking place in good ol’ London. Yep, sneaker heads will be congregating in Shoreditch to see the latest and greatest for some serious trading, buying and checkin!

The Size? store in Covent Garden, London, are now displaying works of fine art. Fine art in the form steely metal tubes, spokes, wheels, handlebars … and well … I’m sure you can tell that we’re speaking of a bike. To celebrate the Trainerspotter x Puma SkyHi II for Size? sneaker, the brands decided it’s only fitting to complement such a flash shoe with a flash bike as well. With influences from Miami Vice, the simplistic designs sure look like they’ll be a good ride. We like!
