There’s been a strong shift in today’s fashion publications. Where before the focus was on flashy, slick and overly-orchestrated photographs and images, today we’re seeing more variety in the visual realm.
Illustration is an important facet in fashion and style and not only for designers and sketches. We’re witnessing the growth in illustrations and some pretty damn cool ones at that. Capturing details the mechanical world forgets, the book “The Beautiful Illustrations for Fashion & Style” captures the importance of visual communication through illustration. Featuring artists such as Jules Julien, Makiko Sugawa and Piet Paris.

Collaborating with EastPak, Belgian design company, Quinze & Milan, created a line of furniture back in March, called BUILT TO RESI(S)T. To add a little spark to their collection, they now hired the great Dutch fashion designer, Antoine Peters.
Previously working for Viktor & Rolf, the designer now has his own label and is constantly producing new and innovative projects. His work for this particular project uses his black-and-white outlined images of women mixed with plenty of color, from his “The World is Flat” collection on an array of seating. Just one of these pieces is bound to add life to any room. Nice work!

Fantastisch!

More than just your run-of-the-mill fashion photographer, Jean Francoise Lepage is more of an all around artist. Utilizing painting and film, the French photographer creates works that are better fit for a gallery wall than a teen style magazine. His extreme use of light, emphasis on bold colors and occasional addition of scribbly illustration is what makes his photographs stand out from others.
Creating images with power, the man even managed to capture supermodel diva Naomi Campbell, normally photographed as an image of perfection, in a state of distress (although she still looks fierce). His works are as inspiring as they are captivating.

“My aim is to paint a portrait of a city and to draw out its special and eternal essence; to capture the unique tempo and character of each” sagt Toledo.
