eVe @ NIKE (RED) Race!

As previously announced last week, we’ll be teaming up the eVerettes to cruise through Berlin on June 10th from 5 to 6PM, to support the NIKE (RED) campaign- “Tied Together”- in help to battle HIV/AIDS in Africa. We’re not graphic pro’s, so we decided to just go for a basic tour shirt- in the end, that carries the least importance on something as important as the subject itself. The first teams are starting in Berlin at 8PM tomorrow night, which you can follow live here!

Anybody who wants to (and should) support, can head down to Firmament to get their own pair of laces (proceeds donated a 100%), and come for a finale gathering to Gipstr. 7 on June 10th from 6-10PM, for some supportive-sportiv mingling!

Check out a further trailer of the campaign after the click and see you there!

NIKE (RED)- Tied Together

Nike and (RED) have teamed up to raise further attention in regards to Africa’s medical crisis and the solutions given to the treatment of HIV/AIDS with their current campaign TIED TOGETHER. The first step to this was by creating (NIKE)RED laces in masses, distributing them worldwide and raising profits which will be donated entirely to the global funds of HIV/AIDS programs. Second step, is spreading the news, the cause and the action in the most social way possible:

From June 6th to 10th, five cities will dedicate themselves to a total of 120 hours of relay racing, equals to 24 hours each, which also means 24 hours to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. Under the tagline “Lace Up. Save Lives.”, New York, Berlin, London, Milan and Paris will be shouting out and making a stand as part of a global community for a good cause. Each city is currently setting up their teams, which will either skate, run or cycle through their city for one total hour on the selected days, passing on the baton to the next city immediately after the 24hrs.

Nike Stadium Berlin asked us to be part of this great project and of course we said yes! We will be cycling through Berlin with an army of ladies on June 10th from 5-6PM- look out for the eVe invasion! Next to us we are happy to be on this together with Keinemusik, Radio Skate, Vice Magazine, LookyLooky, Firmament, Berlin Wasted Youth, Stab, UndPlus Urban Gallery, Civilist, Lodown and some more yet to be announced!

Support this project by spreading the word and getting your laces online or at Firmament, Berlin!

The Lipstick Portraits Exhibition

The Lipstick Portraits is an upcoming exhibition and charity project by Michael Angelo, which will be showing from May 8th till May 23rd at 401 Projects Gallery, New York. The series of photographs show strong and dominant characters such as Susan Sarandon, Dita Von Teese, Daryl Hannah and Alan Cummings, which have marked themselves with red lipstick to show their solidarity with girls and women who are forced to wear the product as a marker of their sexual enslavement.

Raising awareness about sex trafficking, the 65 limitied edition prints, catalogues and t-shirts will be donated a 100% to the Somaly Man Foundation; a non-profit organization run by Somaly Mam, a survivor and activist fighting against sexual slavery today. Check it out if you are in the area, and if you can’t, you may follow the exhibition on Facebook here!

TOMS “One Day Without Shoes”

Today is TOMS Shoes’s day to celebrate “One Day Without Shoes“. The shoe brand was founded on a very basic but effective principle: with every pair of bought shoes, TOMS gives a new pair to a child in need. Its about an exchange of benefits- One for One. With “One Day Without Shoes” they want to raise awareness to the great impact a simple pair of shoes can have on a child’s life. On April 8th, TOMS asks supporters to get rid of their shoes for the day or even a few minutes, to experience on first-hand what it feels like what millions go without on a daily basis. On April 8th, communities, organizations, campuses and individuals are teaming up to support the cause- we will do so too!

by boe Jewellery

by boe was born back in 2000 in New York by the swedish-born desiger Annika Salame and her partner Philippe Salame. After a small store on the Upper East Side they managed to quickly grow the brand, opening their boutique in SoHo and merging into the wholesale jewelry business- by now being sold all over the world. Their fine jewel threads are not only loved by us, but also worn by Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz and the rest of the Hollywood clan which appreciate the handmade pieces in 14K gold or sterling silver. At the same time, as a result of their sense of social responsability, by boe donates a portion of their online sales to Women for Women International, an organziation helping women in war-torn regions to rebuild their lives. Big up by boe!
