Ari Marcopolous “Now is Forever” Book & Exhibition

Since yesterday Incase and Arkitip’s ‘Project Space‘ in Los Angeles is presenting the works of Ari Marcopoulos, featuring images from his newest book “Now is Forever” and for the very first time, showing the 60min. documentary “Moroso Crew” he shot in 1992 based on illegal drug racing in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The contemporary photographer has gathered an unpublished collection of photographs he captured over the last to years in Japan, France, Italy, England and of course New York. Starting 25 years ago at the side of Andy Warhol, Marcopolous definitely still amazes us with the realness behind every shot of everyday life taking us onto a journey of his adventures and addictions.

Cherry Vanilla’s Autobiography “LICK ME”

Cherry Vanilla isn’t a myth or some dark vision we have from the past. She is real and she probably influenced more than one of us out there. Cherry Vanilla was born in Queens and began her career in the 60’s as a producer and DJing in Manhattan & French Riviera clubs. After settling her position as a rock & roll groupie, she became an alternative actress playing the main character in Andy Warhol’s “Pork” play. Followed by being David Bowie’s PR, launching her career as a poet with her self-published book Pop Tart Compositions, touring Europe with her own rock band which included Sting of The Police, doing film projects with jazz legend Chet Backer, running one of the first phone-sex services in America, working with Tim Burton… we probably forgot loads.

Yes, she is more than definitely an absolute wonderwoman. Cherry has now finally written her tell-it-all autobiography, a 288 page hardcover entitled LICK ME, which will be on sale from November onwards, letting us take a real jump into her juicy life story. You may pre-order here!

Picture Book from Tomoaki Hata

The Japanese photographer Tomoaki Hata needed some time before he found his true profession. Not until ten years afterhis educations in law, sociology, media, cultural studies and art critic, he felt well enough prepared to start photographing in 1996. He quickly became well known for his pictures capturing Japan’s groundbreaking HIV/AIDS benefit dance parties and Japan’s gay porn industry. Hata’s photography is part of Collection Lambert in Avignon and is included in other private collections worldwide. With his upcoming book titled ‘The Night Is Still Young‘ he returns to his roots—the underground club scene of Osaka’s gay, nightlife district. Filled with intimate images of radically-creative drag queens who performed at various venues in the city from the late 1990s through the present, this book is a peek into a very special scene of the modern Japan.

Bildband von Maripol: ‘Little Red Riding Hood’

‘Color Of Life’ by André Wright Jr.

André Wright Jr. is a filmmaker and photographer who has travelled around the world with his parents, which were stationed in the military when he was young. Even back then he began to capture the most beautiful places with his camera and kept this way of working for later, when he went on collecting every impression. Since then André has worked as photographer for the Power House, Vibe Magazine, Mute Magazine, Geffen Records and Major League Entertainment, mostly shooting famous people, musicians and other celebrities. Now he has published ‘Color Of Life’, a photo-book of Polaroids, which we believe is still one of the most beautiful mediums for photography.

Photo-Book with love: Ellen Jongs ‘Getting to know my husbands cock’

In our so-called ‘oversexed but underfucked’ society, it´s no wonder that a book-title like ‘Getting to know my husbands cock‘ undoubtedly awakes pornographic thoughts in our minds. The self- made and published photo-book by the American photographer Ellen Jong, does remind us in someway of a Terry Richardson spiced photographic adventure, and yes, some of the 100 pages are pictures of her husbands erected penis. But actually, more than this being a porn-diary, it’s a summer holiday album of the married couple spent at the beach. They have a funny, relaxed and humorous mood and meaning, making you feel something you never feel when watching porno: feeling love.

With a big “nudity note”, see after the click!
