The Pictoplasma Festival is a widely known 4 day celebration of contemporary character design and art. As a matter of fact, it is the biggest and most important of its kind, including everything from conferences to workshops, exhibitions, performances, installations, parties and even a special section dedicated to animation.
In April 2011 the festival will once again attract the shimmering hope of the worldwide art world and put a hell of show for our delight, involving over 50 international artists and more than 600 participants. Quite the rising star since its debut in 2004, the festival has grown into a beautiful collaboration between cultures, travelling the globe from Berlin to New York and even Argentina.

Their trademark is personality. As we know, a pair of shades can make all the difference, and designer brand Hyde’s Spectacles relies on just that in order to stay ahead in the all so very competitive fashion business.
Their statement is personal and is meant to combine carefully handcrafted materials with old school details, something they achieved very well considering that basically everyone who’s anyone owns a pair. There is no logo display on any pair, because from the moment the shades leave the company, they truly become the customer’s.
The new collection stays true to the bold design we’re used to and have a somewhat dramatic allure.
The German premiere is next week and awaits a great deal of appassionados in search for quality in design. These shades are more than meets the eye.
HYDE’S SPECTACLES

To put it into their own words, the recently opened Voo is a Berlin treasure keeper. They make fashion an event in itself and not merely a means to get to an event. Their range is vast, from designer couture to lesser known urban brands, all which vary in price and accessibility.
Their interest in art manifested itself into a showroom that will now host the “Love is a Battlefield” exhibition, a collection of photographs dealing with erotic and weapon fairs. This oughta be interesting.
When: 11th March – 9th Apri
Where: VOO Concept Store Kreuzberg, Oranienstrasse 24, 10999 Berlin

A new sort of revolution is about to burst. Although this time, unlike the rest, its time and place are given facts and its motives well known.
Qubique is a new furniture fair scheduled for October 26th-29th- 2011 (so there’s still time yet to clear your schedule) and will foreseeably take place in avant-gardist location, Berlin’s very own Tempelhof Airport.
The team around the event is young and motivated and wishes to inspire creative thinking that has not yet been annihilated by mass production as we know it. They believe in the power of art and the uniqueness of their product, and assure us through their Manifesto that atmosphere, light and sound can still salvage the world that is “true design”.
Because the Qubiques recognize the power of the two-way flow of successful communication, the fair will also include a discussion pannel and several intradisciplinary activities for architects, merchants, gastronomers and of course, the media.
Don’t miss Qubique – Next Generation Tradeshow

Art, as they say, is a gathering. Of people who share an ideal, of ideals that share their owners. How great is that? May you decide among the exhibits shown in Berlin’s Soho House with the collaboration of our beloved Circleculture Gallery entitled “The Urban Artist- Paths from subcultural creativity to contemporary art” starting on March 12th.
The show brings us such artists as Jaybo Monk, Christian Awe, Jonathan Yeo, Katrin Fridriks, Anton Unai, Helle Mardahl, XOOOOX, Marco “PHO” Grassi, Stefan Strumbel and Gould. This international crowd made the streets their homes and lately settled to the most likely of places for homeless yet truthful people, Berlin.
However different the styles of each artist may be, there’s always the common ground of the street to connect them. The fact that it’s illegal only brings them closer together.

Schreibt uns an info@evewithoutadam.net !!

Actually, story-telling your life in pictures doesn’t sound that special, right?! But think twice! Telling something about your own life with the medium of photography is difficult if you want do more than simply talk about yourself. From innumerable scenes and events, one must select those images that have the strongest narrative power, that reveal underlying structures and establish connections.
Iris Janke, however, shows: it’s working out. She has made her own life the subject of her photography. Her work threads a fine line between reflection and intuition, between control and chance. Every day she makes decisions: each moment of her life might have some importance for the narrative being recorded in her visual diary.
If you want to find out more about her visual expression pass by
C/O Berlin between March 19th and May 31th. We are sure, its gonna be worth it!

The American artist Jenny Holzer has been presenting her „Installation for the Neue Nationalgalerie“ since February 1st at Neue Nationalgalerie, and to be honest, we nearly missed this! The works for of this series were already created in 2001, but are now to be seen for a longer period of time, to be exact, until March 6th.
Thirteen LED-rows, each of them 49m. long, have been installed at the ceiling of the building, presenting trademark creations of sentences of different word strengths and speed, taking us onto a journey of “Truisms”, in which once again the 60-year old artist impacts and moves visitors in that special Holzer way.
Be sure to take a look for yourself before its over!

„I never liked photography. Not for the sake of photography. I like the object.“
