The much anticipated EXPO 2010 Shanghai opened it’s doors to the public last weekend supposing to become the biggest and most expensive outdoor entertainment event in history. Featuring presentations by over 200 countries and organizations, they are expecting over 70 million visitors until its closing day on October 31st. Their theme Better City, Better Life stands for the wish of humankind for a better living in future urban environments, creating blueprints for future cities and harmonious urban lifestyles. Serving as a platform for innovation and environmental awareness, we are surely impressed by the creativity, ideas and inspirations put into this project and would wish for a quick China-beam for a day’s stroll.

Das neue SOHO House in der Torstr.1, Berlin! Lange haben alle drüber gesprochen, nun wurde es “offiziell” eröffnet und wir durften dabei sein. Nach London und New York hat Berlin auch so einen wunderschönen Rückzugsort für die Member dieser Stadt bekommen. Mitten in Mitte mit Ausblick über die Dächer von Berlin, kann man hier arbeiten, entspannen, gut essen, schlafen, Sport machen und verschönert werden. Noch ist nicht alles einsatzbereit, aber sie sind dabei. Neuer Input für Berlin! Diese Stadt wächst ununterbrochen und es macht Spaß dabei zu zusehen, was aus einem seit 1995 leer stehendem Gebäude passiert.

Maison Clothes ist ein neues virtuelles Motel was das WAD Magazin in Kooperation geschaffen hat. Es hat eine Weile gedauert, jeden einzelnen Raum auszuchecken, doch es lohnt sich alle Mal! Angefangen im Partykeller, gibt es Playlisten, die man sich anhören kann, daneben hat Nissan dazu aufgerufen Parkmöglichkeiten zu erschaffen, welche “out of the box” sein sollten. Ein Stock höher befinden wir uns in der  Bibliothek, wo man sämtliche Erklärungen zu Brands bekommt, darunter, Magazine, Messen, Fashionlabels, Künstler etc.. Ebenfalls auf der Etage finden wir einen KitchenBlog, Küche: weil Frauen so gerne labern?! Im 3. OG ist das Hauptthema Klamotte, ein Video von einem Fashionshooting ist zu sehen, daneben werden Kleiderschränke von französischen Influencern gezeigt und die Trends verschiedener Städte, sowie verschiedener Stilrichtungen werden aufgeführt. Ein Stockwerk höher, finden wir einen Swatch Kontest, bei dem wir voten dürfen! Etwas zum hören und unseren Lieblingsraum, das Badezimmer, finden wir in der 4. Etage. Hier kann man virtuell, ganz legal auf Wände malen und sich verewigen. (Wie cool ist das bitte, virtuell einen Raum beschmieren zu dürfen!) Die oberste Etage ist der Dachboden, Secret Room genannt. 2 Fotostrecken werden gezeigt, intime Momente..Frauen und Männer. Dieses virtuelle Haus ist definitiv ein kleines Abenteuer wert und weiter zu empfehlen!

Das Guggenheim im New York präsentiert bis zum Ende des Monats noch,  zum 50 jährigen Jubiläum des Gebäudes, eine Ausstellung namens ‘Contemplating the Void‘. Dabei haben Künstler von der ganzen Welt, Ideen eingeschickt, wie der “leere” Raum genutzt und dabei die Architektur des Gebäudes unterstrichen, bzw. in Szene gesetzt werden könnte. Das Museum hat eigens dafür eine Online Ausstellung im Netz geschaffen, welche man sich hier angucken kann!

Nach langer Ankündigung zieht das gesamte Ensemble der Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden jetzt ins kleinere Schillertheater. Nach über 160 Jahren wird die 1844 erbaute Staatsoper nun von Grund auf restauriert. Im westlichen Schillertheater wird dann am symbolträchtigen 3. Oktober diesen Jahres Premiere gefeiert mit der Oper “Metanoia” inszeniert von Skandalregisseur Christoph Schlingensief, frei nach einem Text von Volksbühnen Regisseur René Pollesch. Nach drei Jahren soll der Zwangsumzug dann ein Ende haben und wir können uns wieder auf Drama, Liebe und Verzweiflung in der alten neuen Staatsoper freuen!

We just sumbled onto SHOWTEL.The independant alternative art event is curated by Kara Walter-Tomé from ArtSite, and is probably one of the only one of its kind. Since 8 years the site-specific art in all media including installation, sculpture, sound, video and perfomances have been showing more than 20 artists each year, to transform a hotel. The room are converted into conceptural environements that look abosutely amazing. Wanting to keep it something exclusive they just show the works on two nights in Palm Beach, Florida. From forests, to unicorns, bed in pools and the universe, the creativity really has no limits! If you are in the area, check out this years SHOWTEL out at Hotel Baiba from April 8th to April 10th. YesYesNo has teamed up with The Church, Inside Out Productions and Electric Canvas to transform the Auckland Ferry Building into an interactive installation. Using a special software they designed themselves, the playground was open to the public being responsible of the large scale charades. They have now put together the maxing of and event video, teasing us so good that we want to join & jump!

148-pages, twice a year, filled up with inspirations and the world of fantastic women. What else could we wish for?!

This is what the sister magazine to Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman, will share with us in the future. Phoebe Philo, Celine’s creative director, sets wonderful high standards for the cover of the first issue, launching on March 22. Editor in Chief Penny Martin, has also chosen to portray the American artist Jenny Holzer, and Kazuyo Sejima (the first woman to be director of architecture for the Venice Biennale). Model Daisy Lowe, critic Alice Rawsthorn and fashion designer Louise Gray are part of the contributors, and all in all it just seems the perfect combination of interesting content and variety, making us looking forward to hit the newsstand soon!

We wish we could live in a house like this one! One “house” stack for each one of us, and life would be even sweeter!

The new five storey VitraHaus is positioned within the Vitra Campus at Weil am Rhein will show Vitra´s Home Collection, and is the work of star-architects Herzog & de Meuren. They started with the planning in 2006 and now its finally open for the public to order furniture directly on site, and basically start saving up to hopefully one day copy-paste it on our lands!
